Self Managed Learning

On the last few days of the term the students of Kereru Class managed their own learning. Students were given a list of learning tasks that they had been working on and needed to be completed by the end of the term. They then had to learn how to prioritise their tasks, use time management successfully and co-ordinate with others as some tasks were with a partner.  Over the two days the students and Ms Hampson took regular breaks to check in with each other and to monitor progress. The students assumed complete responsibility and accountability for their learning experience and followed the learning through to its conclusion.
Self directed or managed learning promotes in students a natural development of self-confidence, perseverance, initiative and accountability.
All the students agreed it was a really positive experience!
Here are photos of some of the learning that took place.
