Surprise!

Kereru Class got two lovely surprises this morning!

Katie has been busy boiling and decorating eggs and brought some for all her classmates. They looked fabulous and tasted delicious!

Toby was a busy baker at the weekend. He baked scrumptious ANZAC cookies and shared them with his classmates.

Thank you Toby and Katie!  

We are very lucky to have kind, thoughtful people like you in our class.

Star of the Week!

Well done to Khara for being our Week 8 'Star of the Week'

Khara has a big responsibility looking after our devices, making sure they are charging throughout the day and then putting them all away at the end of the day.

Car Stopping Demonstration

Today we went to see a car demonstration to see how fast cars go and how dangerous they can be. 

We had to yell 'STOP' so the car would brake and not drive over the cardboard people.

At high speeds the car took longer to stop.

At 50kph it almost reached the people and at 60kph the car hit the cardboard people.

I learnt that the road isn't a playground and you have to be careful. If you are in a car you need to tell the person in the car if they are speeding if you think they're going too fast.

Student Council Representative

Well done to Katie who was voted by her classmates to represent Kereru Class on the school council.
Katie will do a fantastic job on our behalf.
Also congratulations to our other three candidates, Khara, Jack and Sarah.

St Patrick's Day!

Today is St Patrick's day and in Kereru Class we had a wee treat waiting for us when we got to school (snakes, get it?)

Some of us wore green to celebrate St Patrick's special day. We did some activities and watched a fun video about St Patrick.

Kereru 'Star of the Week'

Well done to Jack for receiving our 'Star of the Week' award this week.

Jack created a lovely piece of art that will be laminated and used as his desk placemat for the year. 

He was creative, artistic and paid attention to detail.

Weetbix Tryathlon

Sophie was our 'Dare to Care' star this week for her caring attitude toward her friends and classmates. Jack was awarded the Kereru Star of The Week for working hard on his reading.

WW1: Their Stories-Our History

This afternoon we visited The Nelson Museum to learn more about WW1. This exhibition honours the centennial of the 'war to end all wars', World War One (1914 - 1919). Here is a slideshow of photos from our visit.
